Adjustment Of Loan Ceilings

This is to notify all the members that the loan ceilings have since been adjusted with effect from March 2018 subject to the ability to repay as shown below:-

Maximum loan for members with less than five (5) years =45,000.00; and
Maximum loan for members with five(5) years and above=50,000.00

NOTICE OF MEETING - MAZINGIRA WELFARE AND SPORTS ASSOCIATION
This is to notify you that there will be an Annual General Meeting on 26th  August, 2017 beginning at 10.00 a.m. in the Canteen Hall, Karura.
The agenda will be:


 

  1. Prayers, reading the notice convening the meeting and adoption of agenda;
  2. Confirmation of minutes of the last meeting held on 20th August, 2016;
  3. Matters Arising;
  4. Chairman’s report;
  5. Treasurer’s report and presentation of budget for the year 2017 and forward budget for the year 2018;
  6. Consideration of Audited Accounts for the year ending 31st December, 2016;
  7. Resolutions;
  8. Election of committee members;
  9. Appointment of Auditor (s); and
  10. Any Other Business.

I am enclosing the minutes of the last Annual General Meeting and audited accounts for the year ending 31st December, 2016 for your information and necessary action. It would be appreciated if you could arrange to attend the meeting and also be punctual.
Please note that transport will be available to ferry members from KENCOM HOUSE to KARURA and back. All members should, therefore assemble near the Studio One by 9.00 a.m.
The attached notice of the meeting should be pinned on your notice boards for general information.

Membership

The Association started with a total membership of 500 members and has since grown to 4,259 members at the end of June 2021.

The Management Committee is committed to recruiting new members from the various Government Ministries and Parastatals to promote the growth and development of the Association.

  • Joining the Association:
  • Any employee of Ministries, Counties, Department, Agencies (MCDAS) and the Welfare above the age of eighteen years shall be eligible for membership of the Association and shall be subject to the approval of the committee, become a member on payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 200/=, subject to variation by Annual General Meeting. He must be of good character and conduct.

               (ii).     Any willing employee is required to fill membership forms and return the same to the Secretary who shall affect the membership, after the committee’s approval of the membership.  Membership forms shall be available at the nearest duty station and the Association’s website.

      (b).   Subscriptions:

  1. Every member shall pay a monthly subscription fee of Kshs.500 which may be varied from time to time through an Annual General Meeting.
  2. The subscription shall be paid to the Treasurer not later than the 15th day of the following month.

(c).   Loss of Membership:

  • Any member desiring to resign from the Association shall submit his resignation to the Secretary.
  • Members desiring to resign shall give a notice of not less than 60days

(ii).     A member may be suspended or expelled from the Welfare by the Management Committee on the grounds that his conduct has adversely affected the reputation or dignity of the Welfare or that, he has contravened the provisions of the Constitution and the Bylaws.

 A member whose suspension is being discussed shall have the right to address the meeting at which his suspension is to be considered. The Management Committee shall resolve by a two-thirds majority of members present and voting that such a member should be suspended. The member shall however have the right to appeal against the suspension to the General Meeting and be given a hearing. The General Meeting shall have powers to reinstate the member with a two-thirds majority of members present and voting at the meeting.

 (iii)    Any member who is expelled from membership shall not be entitled to refund of his 50% subscriptions or any part thereof or any monies contributed by him at any time. While any member who retires, is dismissed or dies shall be entitled to a refund of 50% of his subscription provided that he has been a member for over five (5) years and has no outstanding loan.

(iv) Any member who falls in arrears with his monthly subscription for more than six months shall automatically cease to be a member of the Welfare and his name shall be struck off the register. The committee may, however, at its discretion, reinstate such a member on payment of the total amount of subscription outstanding.

(v) Membership to the Welfare shall cease with effect from the date of a member’s, retiring, resigning, dying from public service, or otherwise as stipulated in the Constitution and the By-laws.

Loan Application Date

This is to convey the decision of the Management Committee that from December 2015, closing date for receiving the loan application will be 15th of every month so that they are considered the following month.

In this regard, closing date for receiving the loan applications which will be considered in January 2016 will be on 15th December 2015.

These changes will apply until further notice and therefore all the members are requested to take note so as to avoid any inconvenience.

Unremitted Monthly Deductions

This is to convey the decision of the Management Committee that from 8th December 2015 any employer who will have failed to remit the deductions made from the staff payroll towards Mazingira Welfare and Sports Association to the Welfare account, the loan applications, grants and refund of 50% contribution emanating from such Ministries/Departments/Institutions will not be considered.

You are therefore requested to ensure that any deductions made on your salary towards Mazingira Welfare and Sports Association is remitted to the Welfare account promptly.
